Trees and shrubs have been planted around the new play park. Vale of White Horse District Council planted several trees with a variety of shrubs on 18 December 2006. The Trust for Oxfordshire Environment provided almost all of the funding for the shrubs and terracing.
To mark the arrival of all the greenery, a tree planting ceremony followed two days before Christmas, with parents and children planting the last tree, a Bird Cherry, by the entrance (though it has to be said that several dads and my nephew Joe did all the hard work!). It was a lovely occasion, and it'll be wonderful to see everything start to grow in the Spring.
Many thanks to the district council, which provided the free trees, and particularly to Richard Ballard, to The Trust for Oxfordshire Environment, and to Bill Egginton, of FAFF, who gave expert advice to the guys wielding the spades as he hobbled about!
