It was the biggest safari supper yet with 40 villagers gathering at Chris and Kate Rose's house for pre-dinner cocktails, which guests chose from a menu specially created for the occasion. This safari supper coincided with supper organiser Claire Kay's birthday, so she was treated to a rousing version of 'Happy Birthday' before everyone set out to their various 'starter' destinations.
The sight of herds of grazing villagers moving about the village by torchlight must have bemused motorists passing through Fernham that night. At the pre-arranged time, we all left our 'starter' homes behind, to move on to a main course at another house, dessert at a third, and then we all converged on Lin and Neil Sutherland's home for after-dinner drinks and a disco.

It was a grand night out when 28 villagers from 14 households enjoyed a Safari Supper around Fernham. They met at 1, Chapel Lane, to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and admire Mandy Wishart's hard work in renovating the cottage. (Her lucky tenants will even have a glass-topped well in the sittingroom to enjoy!) After toasting Nicola Young's 40th birthday on the same day, everyone set off to enjoy a starter at one house, a main course at another, dessert at a third and, finally, after-dinner drinks at Mim and Gavin's house. Many thanks to Claire Kay for organising such an enjoyable evening!
