Fernham Oxfordshire

Pictures from last year's Champagne breakfast

The breakfast couldn't have happened on a more beautiful day.

At 8.30am on Saturday, 1 July 2006, 140 people gathered in a field next to South Farm to enjoy a delicious full English breakfast, complete with champagne.

This was a Project Inspire event that drew many people from beyond Fernham, and everyone remarked afterwards on how much fun it was. No-one wanted to leave!

After tucking into breakfast prepared by Carillion chef Paul Curtis, and served by his assistant Hayley, and a jolly band of helpers, everyone joined in a series of silly games: egg and spoon, three-legged race and a rather messy egg throwing contest. (Thanks to Peter Nunn for the delicious eggs.) The children also enjoyed a game of rounders in the blazing sunshine.

As a result of everyone's hard work, Carillion's generosity, and the splendid turnout, Project Inspire will receive a magnificent total of £972.70. The raffle alone - for a Barrow of Bottles - raised £250.20.

The Barrow of Bottles was won by Steve and Pat of No 2 Elmside. We wish them happy drinking and thanks to everyone who contributed a bottle to the barrow. And many thanks to Kay Nunn for ruthlessly selling so many raffle tickets!
