Fernham Oxfordshire

Auction of Promises

Our Auction of Promises raised £4,583.63 for Project Inspire, Fernham's initiative to convert its village church so that it can double as a village hall.

A grand total of 74 lots went under the hammer of professional auctioneer, Mr Ian Homersham, of Coleshill, at the event, held on Friday, 12 October, in the Corn Exchange, Faringdon.

Lots ranged from holidays in Cornwall and Brittany to promises to provide services, such as babysitting, gardening, and carpentry and electrical work. The most novel lot was a lacy, white bra (size 44F) that used to belong to comedienne Dawn French. It has since been resold, raising more money for Project Inspire.

The Fernham village cookbook, Be Inspired, also attracted attention at the auction.

After the auction, fund-matching through npower brought in an additional £602.20

The picture of Mim wearing the Dawn French bra was taken by photographer David Hartley.
